OTHER VOICES: A LEAP INTO THE WILD WORLD

*Online Exclusive through The Alexandra Writers’ Centre Society

Friday, April 17, 2020
10-12 pm MST

Writing in our favourite genre, we will explore seeing the wild world through new eyes — especially good medicine during a pandemic. In this workshop, we will write for the quiet ones — chickadee, deer, pickerel, aspen — you will decide. Active listening, writing, reading, conversation are the ingredients for our time together. Seasoned and new writers welcome.

JOURNALLING: A SPIRITUAL PRACTICE

* Subject to the pandemic

Saturday, May 23, 2020
10:00 - 3:00

Writing can be a spiritual discipline, a healing act, a way of connecting to the Spirit that birthed and bears us. You are welcome to join a circle of seasoned and new writers on this adventure. With story, gentle free-fall exercises and a circle of support we’ll create a refreshing mini retreat.

Spiritual writer Henri Nouwen said, “Writing can untangle thoughts, express our emotions, and give artistic expression to life.”

In the tradition of Wild Rose hospitality, lunch will also be served!

Other Offerings in the Works:

MOTHERS AND OTHER STRANGERS
Writing, Art and Mothers: the one who raised us; the one who sustains us.
Through the gentle art of free-fall writing, story and conversation, we’ll explore these unique connections.

RetURN TO SENDER
Learn to create an organic, biodegradable urn with Saskatchewan gardener artisan Marie Saretsky. With ritual, story and hands-on crafting, we will create a place for our remains to gently return to Mother Earth. This urn will look beautiful on your mantlepiece. No need to hide it in your closet before interment. The urn can double as a place to store your herbs or cookies, as you wish.
